To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

Mission & Purpose

Touch Baja exists to know Jesus and to make him known.  We believe that the best way to do this is through evangelism and discipleship.  It is the reason we live and breath and must be the motive for ALL that we do.  Paul said, “I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord”.  Jesus said that He had come to seek and save the lost and that as the Father had sent Him He was sending us.

Touch Baja works to start churches with a focus on our primary purpose as believers.  Churches where the pastor and leadership are doing the work of “equipping of the saints for the work of minisrty”.

Our Pastor: Ron Brink

Bio

In 1993 Pastor Ron, and his wife Donna, were sent out by Calvary Chapel Spring Valley, located in Las Vegas NV. They went to La Gloria Mexico, a small colonia of Tijuana, to start a Missions Training Center. While ministering there, some families from a colonia named Xochimilco requested that they start a Bible study in their community, since they did not have a church to worship at. The colonia of Xochimilco was started on top of what had been the city dump. It is located between two other colonias, which were also started by families living off of the refuse from the dump.

The area is isolated; the people are poor and mostly uneducated. Two communities that are miniature versions of Sodom and Gomorrah surround them. It was an unlikely place to start a church, but the Lord has blessed it. There are approximately 120 adults that attend the Xochimilco church.

The purpose of this site is to inform you about who we are, what we are doing, and how you can partner with us to share the love of our Lord Jesus Christ with the people of Mexico with the goal of winning souls, disciplining them, planting and growing churches that in turn do the same.  We believe that the harvest is ready, the workers few, and  the time short until our Savior’s return.  Which means we need to roll up our sleeves and get to work while there is still daylight.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a “short-term” trip?

Short-term teams are welcome for a day to several weeks. Most teams stay for a weekend to a week.

What is the cost for a short-term team?

We try to keep the cost as low as possible. Meals cost about $5 per person per meal. For a room the cost can range from $5 to $30 a night depending of the option you choose. The least expensive would be to sleep on the floor in one of our churches. Another option is to stay at a facility with beds and hot showers.

What are our options for traveling to Tijuana?

There are a number of travel options. You can drive across the border, be picked up at the border after arriving in San Diego by car, plane or a train. Tijuana has an international airport where you can arrive. If you rent a vehicle be sure to check that you are allowed cross the border.

Do I need to get car insurance to drive to Tijuana?

Some policies allow you to travel into Mexico up to a specified distance. You should check with your insurance company. You should never drive into Mexico without insurance. The cost of Mexican insurance is very reasonable.

Is it dangerous in Tijuana?

For members of short-term teams it is very safe. Probably as safe as your home town. That being said, Tijuana is not safe for those who are involved in the drug trade with one of the highest murder rates in the world. The vast majority of which is drug dealers killing other drug dealers.

Is it safe to drink the water or eat the food?

In Tijuana almost no one drinks the water from the tap. If you are given water in a restaurant or home the water will be safe to drink. Whenever you go to a distant location it is possible that you will not be accustomed to the microbes of the region and may have some slight discomfort. On very rare occasions some team members will be a little uncomfortable for a few days.
