Santa Fe?
Santa Fe is a large community in Tijuana and close to Rosarito Beach that will eventually have over 25,000 family units. At present there is only one other evangelical church in the area. This church was also started by Capilla Calvario Xochimilco. They are a church that works to get everyone involved in outreach. They have a large hospital chaplain program, reach out to the elderly in their community and minister in a couple of orphanages. They also have a heart for cross-cultural missions.
Purpose & Mission
The St. Fe church purpose is to glorify our Lord Jesus by discipling and equipping its members in order to help them reach full maturity and usefulness in the mission that Jesus Christ has entrusted to it, seeking and saving the lost to the uttermost parts of the world.
Meet the Pastors
Pastor Jorge has a very interesting testimony. He came to know the Lord at an AA meeting that only used the first four steps of the AA 12 step program. He attended the meetings not because he had an adiction but because his Uncle had attended and told Jorge that he had found God at the meetings. He haeventually began to lead the AA meetings and desired to reach out to more poeple so he took a job that gave him training in areas he believed would help him to better comunicate the gospel message. He met Erika while attending Bible school in Queretero. After they both graduated they were married. They have two young boys, Mateo and Santiago.
Our Story
The St. Fe church is just a mile or two from the Xochimilco church but a wold apart. Unlike Xochimilco which is a lower class community it is a lower middle class community. Which we quickly learned meant a different way of reaching out to the community. Children who have electronic diversions and adults who have cars are not on the streets much. Our first outreach to children in the area had only about 20 children in attendance and a handful of adults. This has meant more personal one on one outreach. A bible study was started in one of the homes, soon a small tent was setup for children’s ministry. When the small band of believers became too many for the home a tent was set up for them which soon became two side by side tents. Next a house converted to a comercial space was rented, then a bigger space in a small strip mall on the main boulevard. Then one more move to there present location. The church is almost at capacity but hopes to be able to expand in its present location. In 2018 the church started an elementary school which the Lord has greatly blessed. In 2019 the cuhurch sent a short term missions team to muslim northern Africa. It has plans to work with the Berbers an unreached people group of over 5,000,000 people. They hope to send out longer term missionaries within the next year or two.
